North Pike Senior High School Reviews

April 20, 2009 North Pike does have a lot of flaws. My two daughters had attended North Pike last year. They have certain picks. They was not teaching my children anything. Since we moved out of state; they are accelarating well in their academics. I wish that my family and I would have left a long time ago.

North Pike is growing so fast, due to its great academic records. New buildings are going up everywhere. The staff is growing with quality teachers and an expanded curriculm. They now offer as many extracuricular activities as any school in the state. It is an exciting time around this school!

I attended NP almost my whole school career. My daughter attends now. I have found that my child is getting an even better education than I did. Class choices have expanded as has extracurricular activities. I believe NP to be one of the best schools in the state, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good school to send their children.

It saddens me to read that there are parents of students at NP who feel so negatively towards such a great educational system. I attended Np all of my life also and I made sure that my children would be able to attend when they began. As expected the system does have its problems, over population being the biggest problem currently. I think that speaks for the type of system NP is. The parental support is wonderful and the fact that it has remainded a semi generational school system is a plus. I hope that th eissues others feel so strongly about are resolved, maybe they already have been... or maybe I missed something.

I went to NP for my entire school career and it was a wonderful experience. I hate to see anyone put down on a school that I attended for my entire young life. The teachers (many of whom are still there from my school time) are caring and the staff is conscientious and polite. I will agree that the school has changed very much in the past years as it grows, but the essential heart of it is still there. I wouldn't hesitate (if I still lived in the area) to pay extra to buy a home in the school district so that my children could go to NP.

Although North Pike has exceptional academics, the school is corrupted by politics. My child has attended North Pike since kindergarten, and we have learned that the administration has its picks and chooses among students. Most employees of the school are related in some way or another, and racism is highly prevalent yet is swept under the rug. As a non-minority, I have been able to witness the negativity towards minorities and poor students objectively and am appalled that it is still occurring. Since administrators nonchalantly watch as white students hand out flyers inviting students of their race to attend dances, while ignoring minority students, I encourage parents of potential students to be wary.

North Pike has been a very family oriented school over the years...that has changed...it has a more business like, impersonal approach now. It is growing rapidly and changing quickly...some things are improved, but some are not. With it's growth comes disipline problems that are sometimes not addressed very aggressively. Administrators are hard to contact due to regular absences. Extracurricular activities are often weak or not available. Some of the physical buildings are getting old and often could use some cleaning, painting, repairing, and sprucing up. However, it is ranked as a level 5 school (on a scale of 1-5) and does have higher academic test scores most years than any other school within a 60 mile radius. The staff does a good job of preparing the students overall.

My son has attened NP schools for most of his life(the exception being 2 years he spent in the Long Beach school system). It's like most other schools, it has it's flaws but, overall I rate it as an above average school system. We are experiencing tremendous growth because of NP's reputation.
